Lamellar Ichthyosis

I live in Portugal. I actually have Lamellar Ichthyosis. But I found that a creme that works for Psoriasis works for me. I think in the UK it is called Dovonex; active ingredient Calcipotriol. It cannot be used all over the body but only in certain places where it can alleviate the skin pressures. It causes the skin scales to disappear entirely and has had no side effects.

This is partly to help others and partly to know if you know of any other ointment that can alleviate the condition. Ichthyosis is unfortunately not much researched unlike psoriasis. Maybe what is good for psoriasis is good for lamellar ichthyosis?

I would much appreciate your comments. Thank you

Re: Lamellar Ichthyosis

Hi there,

There are significant similarities in how ichthyosis and psoriasis develop under the microscope. Any treatment that slows down how quickly the skin cells turn over can be helpful in both conditions.

Tablets like acitretin can therefore be very helpful.

Best wishes,
