Cellulitis

I am suffering with cellulitis. They said it will happen again the last other twice time thought flare up with rheumatoid arthritis but no they frightened me saying I could loose my leg cut up to knee.
So what causes it? And is there anything I can do to help the situation? I'm already a coeliac and dairy free due to I.B.D. so any help would be much appreciated. Thank you

Re: Cellulitis

Cellulitis is an infection in the skin. The affected skin (often lower leg) becomes red, hot, swollen and painful. You may also feel unwell with fever, headache, nausea etc. If caught early, tablet antibiotics can cure it but sometimes it will need to be treated in hospital with antibiotics in a drip form. The bacteria enter the skin through small cuts so it is important for you to make sure your skin is in a good condition to prevent another episode. If you have any eczema (red and dry areas) these will need to be treated. Also, have a look between your toes for Athlete’s foot as this can cause the skin to break down and be a portal for infection. If you have had cellulitis before then your doctor should have also checked you for diabetes as infections, especially recurrent ones, are more common in diabetes and control of blood sugars can prevent future episodes of cellulitis.
