Is asthma hereditary?
Hi
I have asthma but i only started suffering with it when i was in my teens and was unfit, overweight, stressed and both my parents at the time smoked. What i want to know is if i am likely to pass on asthma genes to a child if i have one?
I have read on the talkeczema forum that eczema is hereditary and i have heard that asthma and eczema are linked so does this mean my child could develop asthma because of me?

Re: Is asthma hereditary?
Asthma is hereditary and the characteristics are transported to next generation through a recessive gene. So there are less chances but there are chance of heredity of Asthma. Asthma is often triggered by allergies.
