Hay fever and asthma

I have asthma but i also have hay fever, i guess many of us do as they are related conditions. This week my hay fever has been really bad which is making my asthma worse. I am taking my regular asthma inhalers plus antihistamines for my hay fever. Is anyone else suffering more and what do you do?

Re: Hay fever and asthma

Asthma can get worse if someone is also suffering with hay fever, it is therefore important to try and get hay fever symptoms under control. Antihistamines and/or a steroid nasal spray may do the trick. If symptoms persist it is as well to see your GP. He may prescribe a medication known as a leukotriene receptor antagonist which can be useful to help control both the asthma and hay fever symptoms. Sometimes it is necessary to increase the dose of your preventer inhaler.
