Spice milling and packaging dust.

Hi all.
I've recently been diagnosed as having occupational asthma.
I work for a company who process spices, salt and that kind of thing.
Although the dust can be unpleasant to work in, I had no idea how dangerous the stuff is to your health.
Obviously now I've had all the tests and had the bombshell diagnosis, I've started to look for what the exact cause of my asthma is.
Acording to some recent investigation, chilli and garlic have been proven to cause asthma. And yet up to now there's little or no information available to warn anyone of the hidden danger.
Even now I'm having a heck of a job finding information regarding this or any other food dust.
My employers have been less than helpful, in fact I feel there rather hostile.
So it looks like it's down to me to work out how to reduce the risk to myself and my colleague's.
Has anyone ever gone through the same process or had similar problems with food/spice dust?
