I have severe asthma and have had problems trying to get travel insurance. Does anyone else have this problem? Any recommendations? Thank you.

My son's just been diagnosed with asthma - the idea I'd have trouble getting travel insurance hasn't even occured to me - anyone have any other information on this?

I have never had a problem getting travel insurance as i only tend to see the practice nurse but some friends i have with asthma say they have trouble with getting insurance if they have seen a consultant in the past year. My sister had her inhaler changed a couple of years back and when she tried to get insurance she was told she would have to have her asthma "without cover" which just isn't feasible. There are companies that specialize in covering medical conditions but the premiums really reflect that. Best to always try a few standard, but good, insurance companies first then if no joy try the specialist cover. A internet search should bring up a few, off the top of my head i cannot remember any of them that my sister tried.

Hope this helps

One of my E-quaintances is working with Go insurance company in Australia. I will consult with her and ask about travel insurance plan for an Asthma patient.
