Could I please ask the panel the question about erectile dysfunction.

As one ages ED becomes a problem and now that Viagra is available over the counter the problem can be solved

However, with certain medication it is advisable not to take Viagra

I am currently on 5mg Amlodipine tablets for blood pressure and have been advised by my pharmacist not to take Viagra as there is a particular risk.

Could the panel suggest an alternative that could be used in place of Viagra?

Whilst viagra was always hailed as wonder pill it is very important to understand what is causing ED in the first place. This involves blood tests, physical examination, and assessment by a specialist. We know for example about the strong relationship between heart disease and erectile dysfunction. I would always advise assessment before simply starting a tablet for this reason.

Every patient is different and therefore there tend not be one size fits all therapy. Sildenafil (Viagra) can have profound effect on blood pressure, and therefore you should always consult your doctor to ensure there are o possible interactions with other medications; especially those prescribed to work o the heart of circulation of blood.

Alternative therapies (oral) are available but the mode of action is the same. Apart from these injectable therapy, vacuum pump devices and penile implant surgery are also options available for the treatment of ED.
