Vaginal Dryness

I have extreme and debilitating vaginal dryness and atrophy due to Sjogrens Syndrome and am now 8 years post menopausal. I had a previous DVT whilst taking the contraceptive pill. I also had an endometrial ablation due to heavy periods caused by fibroids and adenomyosis. I have tried moisturising pessaries with little improvement. I am concerned about topical hormone due to my clotting risk and the ablation masking uterine cancer in a worst case scenario.
Thank you (Frances)

Re: Vaginal Dryness

Frances,
I would highly recommend topical oestrogen cream for your vaginal dryness and to team that with vaginal moisturisers. Good brands are Sylk and Yes.
Topical oestrogen will not increase your DVT risk or put you at risk of endometrial cancer. The systemic absorption of topical oestrogen is absolutely negligible. Over a year it is estimated that using topical oestrogens is the equivalent of taking 1mg of oestrogen systemically which is incredibly small.
hope that helps
