I think it's sad to read but not too surprising that the situation continues to get worse. With budget and funding cuts, there's not enough staff or support for a lot of the complex needs in prison populations, for men or women. I think there's less press on women's prisons in general so less attention is perhaps paid to the need for more rehabilitation aspects and mental health aid and support. Nor is it taken in to much consideration, aside from obvious physical differences and stereotyped views on violence/aggression within the populations, the psychological and psychosocial differences between men and women, and the effect this then has on their needs within prison also being different.
