Getting the type of councelling I want.
I am getting depressed, have received councelling in the distant past, but for me, sitting around in a group discussing my situation with a Councellor who just listens but when you ask a question, get told that they are just there to listen and moderate, I find very unhelpful. I would like a councellor or clinician who takes the view that questioning my feelings, and puts forward a range of alternative points of view for me to chew over is far more constructive. However I gather there are different 'types' of disciplines or ways of councelling/treating people, but what these are technically called, I don't know, and would like to know which 'type' and it's medical name so I can ask for that type of treatment. What do I ask for? That's not too complicated a question to ask, is it?

Posted this question on the 11th August, but to date no replies whatsoever. Have I struck a raw nerve, dug up something that no-one wants to answer, not even the professionals here?

Re: Getting the type of councelling I want.
Hello - thank you for posting in our forum.
From 17-23 October 2012 we are running an NHS Choices/talkhealth online clinic on mental health. Within the next couple of weeks we will open this forum-based clinic so you can start posting questions. Our expert panel will be in the forum to answer the questions between 17 and 23 October. I know this doesn't answer your question now, but I do think one of our panel members would be able to help you. The event is being supported by the Mental Health Foundation and Rethink, and both charities will be participating and I'm sure can also offer some advice. Have a look at our experts here - http://www.talkhealthpartnership.com/nh ... xperts.php
I do hope this will be of some help to you.

You need a councelling and you should try to consult with your specialist. I think it would be beneficial for you to be healthy.
