Unsure of type of depression I have

I was diagnosed with postnatal depression over 13 years after I'd had my daughter who is now 13, but I don't know if I've still got postnatal depression or if I have got another type of depression. I have only been on antidepressants, but I have never had any counseling as I have given up asking for it.

Hi sophiesmummy and welcome to the talkmentalhealth forum,

Have you been on medication for the 13 years, if so have you had this reviewed? I wonder if there are any support groups or services locally that you can self refer to?

Here are some links to national charities that may be able to help provide support-

Please let us know if the links are helpful.

Look forward to hearing from you soon,
Helen

Hi Sophie,

I know that you posted over a month ago now but I really hope that you managed to read the links above.

Trying to access the right advice and care can be frustrating sometimes - but do persist with your GP as they'll be able to best advise you and hopefully make a referral.

Make another appointment with your GP. Let them know it's for depression because they will automatically extend the appointment. They can then refer you to a local counselling session either one on one or in a group setting. Please let us know if you are still around how you are getting on. Hope you can find something that suits you :)
