Often alcoholism or problem drinking accompanies depression. Many people are under the misguided impression that alcohol is a relaxant. Perhaps the first two glasses are, but it is ultimately a depressant. And often it spirals out of control and becomes a vicious circle, of drinking, feeling depressed, hungover, having a drink to cheer yourself up and off it goes again. Eating disorders and self harm again go hand. It's control issue as much as anything else. If part of your life is out of your control, you try to control another part.

I am an ex alcoholic, and controlled my eating leaving me with anorexia, result in my poorly mind, and often self harmed as a deflection of the pain. Of course I was incredibly depressed too. I am well now, but never forget those sad and lonely times.

The root cause of major depression seriously isn't known. Several researchers still find it due to chemical improvements from the human brain. This can be because of a difficulty along with your gene history, or even brought on by specific demanding occasions. Major depression can be a serious sickness that could afflict everyone, perhaps folks who often are most. Accurate professional medical major depression can be a spirits condition where thoughts involving unhappiness, burning, frustration, or even aggravation obstruct everyday life intended for 2 or 3 weeks or even extended.

True. Although it may work temporarily as you said, alcohol is the worst 'mood booster'. It eventually leads to brain shrinkage and cognitive decline as shown in clinical studies. If you are looking for something to lift your spirits that doesn't do more harm than good, then look into improving your lifestyle before anything else.

Unfortunately, most people just want the quick and easy way so they consume meds or substances that they think is helping when in fact it's only making things worse.
