3 reasons why you should consult an online psychologist

Before you frown and start picturing an office setting with assessment tests and counseling sessions, let me tell you that it is exactly what you will NOT be having with your online psychologist. Now, you might probably be thinking it’s just another way to waste your hard earned money online. It is completely up to you to draw conclusions and eventually decide where to spend your cash. However, if you simply do not have the kind of time to spend on a psychologist, then an online psychologist would be in a much better position to help you out.

Listing websites that offer the services of an online psychologist here would be unnecessary and wasteful since one can easily find the required information using their preferred search engine (hint: Google 'online psychologist'). The purpose of this article, however, would be to educate the reader about the existence and the viability of having an online psychologist.

There are two types of interactive online psychology: assessment and therapy. You might have probably guessed what the former means: quizzes, personality tests along with others, focusing on key areas, such as depression or anxiety. Therapy is where an online psychologist interacts with the client to discuss his or her problems in detail and suggest solutions. Let us continue on the assumption that the reader is interested in availing the latter option.

The very first question anyone even remotely interested in having an online psychologist will have to answer is a 'why?' Why would you go for an online psychologist when you can get pretty much the same benefits consulting a traditional psychologist? Let me enumerate:

1. Convenience:

Rendering the services of an online psychologist means you do not lose any time in commute or waiting outside the clinic. Plus, you get all the benefits at the comfort of your home. All you need is a computer and an internet connection. If your schedule is so hectic that it would be very difficult to keep a weekly appointment, or if you do not want to commit yourself to a therapy but just need some professional advice from time to time, then an online psychologist is for you.

2. Economical:

An online psychologist will charge you much less than a traditional therapist would. If you are very particular about finances, think of the money you will save on fuel by not having to drive to the psychologist!

3. Privacy

You can consult an online psychologist without the neighbors knowing about it. You can even schedule the appointments so as to have the sessions, when you are alone at home.

In addition to an online psychologist, many online psychology portals come equipped with tools to successfully analyze your personality and behavior and effectively pin point the problem. It should be kept in mind that an online psychologist is not always a regular psychologist who video chats with you over the internet: some portals claim to treat the patient with a text-only interface! You might want to look clearly into the kind of services and the medium of communication corresponding to an online psychologist, before making a decision.

Great info here . I would have never thought to consult one. But I guess that it would not be that bad to do.
