Why, even with medication, have I once again become bedridden??????? Started thyroxin 10 years ago and it gave a new lease of life to the extent I have worked full time until recently. Last five years I have just got worse and worse until I'm back in bed and will probably lose my job. Do you think ME/fibromyalgia are hypothyroidism ??

Also, my dad has under active thyroid and he spent 11 days in hospital for them to set his dose up -that was years ago (he's 90) how come they don't do that now?

i have been takeing throxine for 7 years last december became very ill could not eat feeling very sick legs and arms became weak unable to get out of bed .after blood test tsh 12.55 t414.60 increase in meds sent me hypo reduced meds back to 125mg. gp then decided i was deppressed .now on anti deppressents i still feel ill quality of life is rubbish always tiered massive appitite weight gain front of neck always throbbing and some times pain full in the area of tyroid gland . gp as given me increase in meds 150mg every otherday .last test before increase tsh 5.85 t4 16.5 t33.5 i am taking hrt as i am 52 .i am asking to take meds 150 mg everyday to seeif my health will improve. the keep putting everthing to my deprssion i amm not depressed..... i dont know wether to ask to see a private doctor to see if he can help .

If you are taking HRT, it may be that any estrogen is hampering transportation of the thyroid hormones. Are you taking the two medications well apart?

i am taking hrt at night meds in morning i have started to come off hrt to see if my health improves.meny people say it could be the hrt but doctor says not .my spine elbow and knee have also become really pain full as well now. the tyroxine is taken in the morning i have been on the throxine for 7years but i have never felt like this. the only way to see if it is hrt is to come off it because the gp says hrt does not effect the meds .i am due another blood test in 3 weeks .i am asking for another increase so i will be on 150mg everday instead of every other day.i know i will have menopores symptoms but i need to feel well again.

So what are the menopause symptoms you are likely to have?

Are you 100% sure they are caused by lack of estrogen? Most problems arise when you become estrogen dominant due to lack of progesterone. Have a look at progesterone.com..... Quite a few people on the forums report sucess with serenity cream, myself included.

Of course my doctor said it was rubbish, but he is not the one who was suffering with bloating and sore boobs.....

the symptoms i was getting were bad night sweats tearfull and bad itching i am 52 so i am sure i am in the menapause .its the symptoms from the tyroid that i cannot cope with.how will i know if the hrt is causing the problem with the tyroxine if i dont come off it . i never had any real symptoms for the last 7 years from my hypo just this past year i feel shocking every day and i have to keep down a full time job.because my levels are comming down the gp is reluctant to increase meds or deal with my problems just keeps saying its my deppression as i was that ill last year i had to have anti depressents that what the said was my problem even when my tsh was 12.84 t4 14.60. la st bloods were tsh 5.40 t4 16.5 t3 3.5. next bloods in 3 weeks.
