various treatments available

Can I just ask what you mean in your introduction by "various treatments available"???

When discussing alternatives to levothyroxine I have been told that there is only one treatment for hypothyroidism available and that is levothyroxine.

Please tell me which other thyroid medication you are referring to?

levothyroxine is the mainstay of treatment. T3 is valuable in specific circumstances (in preparation for radioiodine treatment for thyroid cancer). Combination sof T3 and T4 have been disappointing and may be harmful. Animal thyroid extracts are not reecommended by professional organisations.
