FINE NEEDLE ASPIRATION CYTOLOGY

I have recently been given the results of a fine needle aspiration of a multi nodular goitre. The result was classified as thy3. My Consultant has said that there is about a 5% chance that it could be cancerous. I have to make a decision on whether or not to have a thyroidectomy . I do not want to have an unnecessary operation if only 1in 20 with this classification prove cancerous. I would be grateful for the experts views on what factors I should take into consideration before coming to a decision. I have to see my consultant in one months time to give my decision.
