Thyroid Cancer treatment

From discussions with other thyroid cancer patients nationally, it would appear that treatment differs between UK hospitals? Is there any consistency and recognised guidelines for the treatment of thyroid cancer in the UK. If not, why not?
If there are guidelines, what determines the type of treatment given i.e., total versus partial thyroidectomy; Radio Iodine Ablation or not? What are the markers?

There are guidelines produced by The British Thyroid Association and published sometime ago.

Every patient varies and treatment has to be tailored to suit the particular patient within the guidelines described
