Let down & fobbed off

It took 16 years for my surgery to diagnose me with hashimotos despite me first having thyroid imbalance during pregnancy in 1994. I was misdiagnosed with asthma, diagnosed with migraines, carpal tunnel, osteoarthritis, cysts, fibroids, Varicus veins, poor circulation and anemia Drs told me my breathlessness & palpatations were stress related!! Why wasn't I monitored with yearly blood tests? Why do Drs get so little training for a disease that is so common.

I agree that if you had a thyroid problem during pregnancy this should have been monitored after delivery for at least a year. The BTF is indeed concerned about the level of thyroid disease knowledge in the medical community and will be seeking to improve that in the future
