Congenital Hypothyroidism and PCOS

Hi there. Is there a link between these two conditions? My congenital hypothyroidism wasn't diagnosed until I was 7 years old (before the days of the heel-prick test done on babies now) and so I was very much under-developed in size, hair condition, ability to keep warm etc, described by Dr Haas at RD&E Hospital (at that time it was called Wonford) as a 'failing child'(!). I'm wondering if this affected the hormones/glands, ovaries etc associated with PCOS? I'll be really interested to see your response. Thanks.

Re: Congenital Hypothyroidism and PCOS

Hypothyroidism certainly can affect the female reproductive organs but congenital hypothyroidism , even diagnosed late but then treated is not, as far as I know, associated with PCOS.

Thanks for your answer. At least I know now.... I guess it's just un-luck of the draw!
