Rare Allergies all together.

Hi my daughter is 17 months old and the amount of allergies and intolerence she has is amazing. My kitchen cupboard looks like a pharmacy as she has other medical conditions.

Food- free from dairy both lactose and protein, Soya, wheat, Salicylate, Vasoactive amines, citrus fruits, peaches, mango, nectarines, celery, banana, nuts and sesemea seeds.

Environmental/chemical- pets, fur, wool, carpet, poylester, sun, grass, tree, chlorine, cleaning products, soaps, depderants, plastiv soft play, farms and new bulid houses.

With this she also has reflux and was born with a small bowel dilation and decreased growth. 5lb8oz at 37 weeks.

My 4 year old is lactose and protein free of dairy and nuts only she is fine with all other food. She suffers from hayfever and pet intolerance but is no where near as bad as my youngest.

Both me and their dad have allergies and intolerence and so its runs in the family. With all of this my youngest has food anxieties and issues with controlling what she eats and when. Because of all her problems she slept a lot and there for is behind in her large motor skills but catching up very fast. She also has a wobberly core stability and can only sit in haness chairs. This is thought to be because all her problems are in her tbody area.

Is she rare or are there many other children/adults out there with the same issues and how can we make her life better and give her the experience she needs?

Thank you xx

genuine allergy/intolerance to this many things is very uncommon and my only advice would be to make sure you are seeing doctors in a specialist allergy centre where they have expertise with such complex cases.

Hi

Thank you we are under a professor who talks world wide on allergies but we feel he isn't helping her very much so we are going to birmingham childrens to see the gasto team their and then to follow on with allergies.

My theory is that her hyperthalmus isn't working well and with this causes low body temo and inbalance of chemicals hence the reactions. We are still awaiting skin pirck test and we have had to wait 9 months for this to be agreed by him and we had to fight for this with proof of photos of her body and face and her stools too as she bleeds.

Is there a particular allergy clinc you would suggest that would be able to help us on the NHS. We can't afford privet but would try to if there was no one in the NHS that could help her.

Ok thank you. I have been told shefield and london are the better ones but you never know really and don't want to be swapping from one to the other. What are your thoughts on the hyperthalamus out of interest as from a scientific point of view it fits but from a medical view i don't know.

Dear Aly&Immy,

The hypothalamus does regulate body temperature, hunger, thirst, stress and sleep. However I am not aware of any evidence linking the hypothalamus with allergy per se. There is a link between increased stress levels and worse asthma control.

Kind regards,

Thank you

It is my understanding that the hyperphalmus controls the bodies functions like the chemical changes and hormone levels. With this in mind my daughter has chemical reations to food and environment and from a scientific point of view the hyperphalamus would be a part of this control.
