Prolapse

with a prolapse of the bladder wall, will this cause vaginal problems or just bladder weakness? is there anything other than pelvic floor exercises to help this and avoid surgery

Re: Prolapse

A prolapse of the vaginal wall may cause a dragging discomfort in the vagina, and may affect bladder control. Pelvic floor exercises can be very successful in strengthening the muscles which support the pelvic floor. If menopausal (sorry, I don't know your age or menopausal status!), then using vaginal estrogen as well can help by improving the support and reducing the common thinning changes in the vagina. If overweight, then losing weight can also help by reducing the pressure on the pelvic floor. If these measures are not enough, then supporting vaginal pessaries can be tried prior to surgery. Management of prolapse has changed to being much more conservative, at least in the first instance, rather than rushing to surgery. See more info at www.bladdermatters.co.uk
