PCOS and bariatric surgery

I have PCOS and have struggled to loose weight. I have now lost 11 stone (due to a gastric bypass), should my periods start to regulate? they are still really irregular, even though my BMI is 25. Should i find it easier to conceive now that i have lost the weight? is it safe to be pregnant following bariatric surgery?

Re: PCOS and bariatric surgery

Not necessarily, as the underlying metabolic cause (the ovarian resistance) is still there.

HOWEVER you have done amazingly well in getting the weight down and this will improve your periods somewhat, and put you in a vastly improved position in terms of fertility. Regular periods require regular ovulation, and now that your weight is down you could try the pill to induce more regular bleeds (or the Mirena). If fertility is desired, then perhaps hospital supervised treatment with metformin or clomid might suit you.
