My periods seem to coincide with my daughter's

I am 48 and my daughter, who is 15 and autistic, started her periods last summer. Previously I was on a 4 week cycle. In November last year my cycle went up to be about 6 weeks. Three weeks after that my daughter's period started and then I had another period. For a couple of months we seemed to coincide and start our periods within a couple of days of each other.

Two weeks ago I had my period but my daughter did not. Her period started on Monday this week and I have started again today. This is just over two weeks since my last period (16 days) which seems very short. Is this normal or should I visit the doctor about this?

My daughter's periods are quite heavy (as mine were at her age) and we have seen the doctor about and she has been given mefanamic acid to help with the symptoms.

It is often reported that women/girls living together have period cycles at the same time, I've never seen an explanation as to why. However, since your periods have become more often, it would be recommended to see your doctor. The most likley reason is change in the hormone balance, which often starts in our 40s, but you still should be seen.
