High Progesterone Levels

Hi,

I'm 15 and miscarried 4 months ago but haven't had a period since. I've had 2 scan and both showed large amounts of lining so was referred for a blood test that showed I have extremely high amounts of progesterone and that my HCG levels are still slightly up (they are at 57). I haven't had treatment discussed yet but what treatment options are there to get everything back to normal?

Thanks,

Steph

Re: High Progesterone Levels

That HCG level may mean an early pregnancy OR persistent tissue left over from the miscarriage - it needs investigation, with repeat hcg levels and another scan at least a week apart.

The progesterone level may mean early pregnancy or normal for your stage of the cycle.

Re: High Progesterone Levels

I forgot to say that in the blood tests after the miscarriage and the scans after the miscarriage, I never showed signed of still being pregnant and my HCG levels never went below 41. Also, I haven't had intercourse since August, causing me to worry about why my hormones haven't gone back to normal and why my periods haven't started even though it was 4 months ago that the miscarriage happened.

Thanks,

Steph

Re: High Progesterone Levels

Agree with Mr Byrne, this certainly needs investigating with your Obstetrician/Gynaecologist since some of the pregnancy tissue may still be present.
