Pain when ejaculating

I've been diagnosed with prostatitis which comes and goes. One of the side effects is pain whilst ejaculating. Anyone else experience this? Any tips or ideas how I can limit the discomfort? I don't want to abstain from sex as my wife and I have a loving relationship. She is very understanding and happy for us to put sex to one side when I'm experiencing the symptoms but if we can find a way to stop these each time I have a reoccurence of prostatitis I'd love to hear from anyone who can help.
