Supra pubic catheter problem

Supra pubic catheter problem
I had a supra pubic catheter ftitted about eight days ago. I have a continual problem that although I can see urine draining slowly into the day- and night - bags, I nevertheless have a strong feeling that I want to pee.
Is that normal shortly after having it fitted? I find it quite worrying in case it means that things aren't quite right.
I have some bruising below the fitted tube, which I'm told is normal, and which I know will gradually fade. Could that be a reason for feeling I need to 'go'?
I can't get a straight answer from my urologist on the matter. Hence i would be extremely grateful if anybody with experience could advise me a) if they have had a similar experience, which faded with time, or never.
With much thanks.

Re: Supra pubic catheter problem
Yes, it's normal to want to pee even if you have a catheter as the catheter stimulates the bladder giving you the same sensation as when urine in the bladder stimulates the bladder. The bruising isn't responsible for this.
