Erectile Dysfunction getting worse...

I'm 44yo and have been struggling with ED for the last 10 years, but have found it to be getting worse over the last year or so.

- I have high blood pressure (140ish/95ish), which was originally treated 8 months ago with Amlodopine 5mg daily. A couple months later this was increased to 10mg daily after only having a minimal effect on BP, but my lower legs swelled within a couple weeks, so the Amlodopine was knocked back down to 5mg daily and Atenolol 25mg x twice daily was added. I understand now that Atenolol was cause impotence, so I'm a bit hesitant about continuing to use it long term.
- At 178cm and 130kg, I'm obese. In an effort to lose weight and to try to get my blood pressure under control, I've lost 8kg over the last 6 months, by eating healthier and also recently switching to a Vegetarian diet.
- My fasting blood sugars are normal, so diabetes is not a concern.
- My cholesterol levels are all in the healthy range, though at 1.05mmol/L, my HDL is only just inside the normal range (>1.0mmol/L).

I'll continue to lose weight to try to get down to a healthy weight range. Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions of what else might be causing my ED as it's really starting to impact my self confidence and I'm also concerned that it might be a symptom of a more significant underlying issue. My doctor has gone on an extended leave, but I'll book in with them when she returns.

I appreciate your thoughts, suggestions and input...

Re: Erectile Dysfunction getting worse...

Hi hardenup,

Sorry to hear you are struggling with all of the issues you mentioned in your post. Sadly we are not able to give out specific medical advice but would encourage you to have a look at some of the more general information that has been provided by one of our experts on this issue here; https://www.talkhealthpartnership.com/f ... 75&t=26936 and check out some relevant information about the condition also herehttp://www.talkhealthpartnership.com/ta ... nction.php

Hope this helps you but in the meanwhile, it sounds like you are doing all the right things but obviously once your own doctor gets back off of extended leave we would recommend seeing your own GP.

Please do let us know how you get on though.

Regards,

I'm sorry you are suffering in this way.

Have you spoken to your GP now? If you are nervous or embarrassed to see someone face to face you could always try an online consultation to start. I hope there will be a viable treatment option for you.

There is also a lot of information and helpful reviews online for things like ED or PE.

Good luck to you!

Just a quick update. Yes, I've been to see a new doctor. She prescribed Viagra. 25mg dosage has resolved my ED much to my relief... I dare say my erections with Viagra are the strongest they've ever been. I'll continue to try to lose weight and keep managing my high blood pressure.

Re: Erectile Dysfunction getting worse...

Hello,
Sad to hear you are facing erectile dysfunction. It is an issue every male faces due to stress, anxiety, diabetes, hypertension, etc as early as the age of 40 and above. You can try taking Generic Cialis instead of viagra which can give you an erection for a longer period of time. It is effective as it contains a core ingredient called Tadalafil. Take it under a doctors supervision. Hope you find this helpful.
