Getting a tan whilst using sunscreen
I'm asking this on behalf of my daughter really .... since my girls were little I've made sure they are always well covered with sunscreen when abroad (and during rare hot weather we get in the UK). However, my eldest daughter (15) never really tans - I know it's a fine line between getting a tan and staying safe but how can she get a tan whilst still using sunscreen? Do you think we are using a factor that's too high? Is it better to use a lower factor but reapply regularly? I generally tend to make them use a Factor 30. Any advice would be appreciated. Clearly I want to make sure the girls don't burn, but I can also understand my eldest who wants a healthy glow, particularly when all her friends get a tan. Thank you.

Re: Getting a tan whilst using sunscreen
Hello Deborah, I'm afraid theres no such thing as getting a safe tan.If you fail to protect your skin from UV radiation caused by the sun and sunbeds, you are actually putting yourself at risk of skin cancer.
You are using the correct sunscreen,Factor 30,this too needs to be applied frequently , as this will prevent burning and you also need consider the UVA which will help to protect your skin from wrinkles and blotches.
we say 'pale is beautiful' You may like to consider fake tans (out of a bottle)
hope this helps
