Hi all,

I am a sufferer of Eczema from birth, I'm 24 now and I have used every cream/steroid under the sun for as long as I can remember.

I have recently been seeing a specialist dermatologist as my skin has gotten quite bad, back, arms, legs, face, pretty much the entire body, I haven't had an out break like this for as long as I can remember. However I've noticed that the sun helps me quite a bit, as my skin tends to totally clear up in the summer. I have been referred for phototherapy, (medical sun beds) in the hope that this will provide me with the narrow band UVB that my skin lacks at the moment. I must add that last year was the first year in a while, that I didn't go on a summer holiday, not sure if this lack of sun has leaded to my severe outbreak.

I just wanted to ask if anyone has had this treatment and what the results are like? I have heard good things!

Hi,
Sunlight is also incredibly healing for me, especially in combination with sea water...
My father-in-law also has eczema (I know too many people that have this problem) and the doctor prescribed UV light treatment. He's almost healed now...
I was tempted to ask my doctor about this but I haven't yet because that would be time consuming (my nearest hospital doesn't have a UV unit)...

Thanks for taking the time to reply!

It's something I've noticed for a while, the more sun light the better! I do wonder if me not being away on a sunny holiday is anything to do with my outbreak, but it's lovely to hear that your father in law responded well to the treatment.

I don't know too many people with eczema, even more interesting, no one in my family has it apart from me??

I'll be sure to keep everyone posted, just waiting to be booked in!
