Re: Atopic Eczema HELP
Hi,
I am really sorry to hear how much it is affecting you and your son. It must be really hard to see him in distress.
I am sure you have been given information but I thought this link may be helpful...

Other members within the forum I am sure can offer advice, along with some of our moderators who have their own blogs and experience with eczema. Marcie mom offers great advice- here is the link to her blog- http://eczemablues.com/
I hope that is a start in offering some helpful advice.

Re: Atopic Eczema HELP
Thanks Helen and sorry to hear of the eczema Lbank, hugs.
Be very careful not to see many different doctors as they may not have a record (and lack the history with your child) to see how the skin reacts to a particular cream. Finding a pediatric dermatologist/ immunologist would be more suitable for the following:
- Proper consultation, asking you about the skin history, family history
- Recommending a suitable allergy test, i.e. if too much of the skin has rashes, would be difficult to administer skin prick test (some basics from interview with pediatrician with allergy specialization on types of allergy tests http://eczemablues.com/2012/05/friday-d ... rgy-tests/)
- Proper diagnosis, including corroborating the results of allergy test with answers gathered during the consultation, or with another type of allergy test
- Prescribing the right treatment and monitoring the treatment (a steroid cream that works should work within 1-2 weeks and not have to put one, and another, and another.. that's quite dangerous)
- Recommending the appropriate skincare routine - what not to use, how to shower, how to clean the skin (chlorhexidine gluconate diluted), swimming/not, wet wrap
You can see this link for some basic skincare videos, along with interviews with dermatologists

Hope above helps, very sorry to hear what you're going through,
