Blotchy face!! Please help!!
Hi I'm 17 years old and have a nut allergy and eczema which is very controlled. However just over the last 6/7 months I have been suffering with red, hot blotchy face. I've tried EVERYTHING, antihistamine, eczema creams etc. I've recently been feeling really self conscious about and tried makeup and my whole fake swelled up. My current foundation isn't the problem it was the primer. I basically need some to calm the redness down. Its especially red on my upper lip, cheeks and above my eyelids. It's really bothering me especially with just starting college.
Thanks in advance

Oh dear.. sorry to hear that. I'm not sure how to help.. it's best to see a dermatologist. It may be contact allergy (given that this takes time to develop, i.e. repeated use of certain ingredients may lead to skin sensitization) or it may not even be atopic dermatitis/ contact dermatitis since there are other possible causes of rashes on face. I previously did an interview series with a dermatologist on face/mouth rashes, not sure how much it'd be helpful (http://eczemablues.com/2012/10/facial-e ... -and-lips/)
Take care and hope you'd get better soon!

Re: Blotchy face!! Please help!!
hi. I am sure you have seen a GP already but try to ask a referral from a dermatologist, immunologist or allergist, too. apparently eczema is also related to allergies. since it is in your face, try not to use anything. cosmetic products will just trigger it. you can use water and the prescribed emollient as your soap. avoid perfumes too or cologne. yes, it is on the diet, as well, so eat plenty of fruits, veggies and cut down on sweet foods. Do not forget your multivitamins. My GP advised me to take Vitamin D supplements, you know. And he said it work wonders!! you need plenty of sleep and try to relax. dont be too stressed. in my experience, stress, sleeping late at nights and poor diet contributed so much to eczema. Try not to have long fingernails as there could be times when you cannot stop yourself from scratching and you would just end up having wounds. Hope these helps.
