Wet wrapping for adults?

Hi,
I’ve seen lots of positive comments about wet wraps for children. I just wondered if any adults had tried it? My eczema is in flare up right now and it literally feels on fire and really struggling not to itch it. If adults have tried it successfully - are the wraps something specific from a GP or is it just standard bandages with your normal moisturiser?
Thanks
Lynsey

Wet wrap from Tubifast.. basically it's just a layer of fitting bandage that is moist and put over moisturized skin; with another dry layer over. We will try it with just a dry layer over moisturized skin.. you don't have to use Tubifast, other normal bandage will do but it may ended up costing more because the other bandage may not be washable and more hassle to wrap versus slipping over a "tube"

can check out the various posts on Tubifast http://eczemablues.com/?s=tubifast&submit=Search

Take care!

I don't think it may help radically, just takes the itching away

Wet wrapping temporarily calms the skin. It doesn't heal the skin. The skin barrier is made up of layers of dead skin cells bound together by a mixture of fatty acids, ceramides and cholesterol lipids.
The barrier prevents loss of water from the deeper layers of the skin but also to stop harmful elements from penetrating into the skin. By using the wet wraps you're giving the skin water but you're not preventing the loss of water from the deeper layers. You can repair a damaged skin barrier using an oil that is high in fatty acids. Castor oil is a thick oil that is high in fatty acids. It is a cost effective oil. It is available in most pharmacies although you'll get a better deal online. It will heal the skin so that the skin can do what it's supposed to do. If something internal is causing your eczema, it will keep attacking the skin. If it's internal more than likely you'll need to treat a leaky gut using probiotics and/or diet elimination of trigger foods (typically dairy, grains and/or eggs).

Until you heal your eczema, don't be afraid to use wet wraps. Before I learned about castor oil, I used a homemade version of wet wraps for years. My eczema was heavily concentrated on my lower legs, then my forearms, upper legs, upper arms, breasts, then the rest of the body. I used cut off socks on my lower legs at all times, cut off socks on my arms after work/weekends and an old pair of thin sweats soaked in water. Just realize that it only soothes the situation. It doesn't reduce the eczema.

Hi,
In my opinion, wet wrapping temporarily calms the skin not permanently.
Thanks.
