2 Questions....

1) I have recently just come out of a HORRIBLE time with my eczema relating lots to scratching. I was given FUCIBET on monday and now my skin looks great, no eczema at all, just a bit of a rash due to heat (grr).
The problem is....i cannot use fucibet forever because its bad for my skin. Anyone recommned any other cream?
I REALLY want to keep using it, why cant i? Is it really bad to use it for longer?

2) I have been sent to a Dermatoligist and the appoitment is on Monday. Has anybody been to one before? What do they do on the first visit?

ANY THOUGHTS WILL HELP
THANKS(:

Re: 2 Questions....

If FUCIBET is a steroid cream, it will thin your skin in the long run and make it wrinkly and weak. That's what happened to me after using steroid creams for over 20 years.

Please Help!!

Hello there, Im Kayley. My 2 and a half year old son oliver has eczema all over his body, its horrible. and when he scratches he really scratches u just cant stop him and putting his cream on wont help. We both get so stressed out everyday with it. he's never slept through since birth! always scratching at night, i try to keep him cool and moisturised but nothing seems to work. I have lost count of the creams that i have tried. Has anyone got eczema like this? or a child who has, and found a really effective cream? iv been to the doctors so much also and they just say the same thing :(

Re: Please Help!!

Hi, As a mum of a 2 & 4 year old with severe eczema I know exactly where your at. Have you been refered to a Dermatologist? You need specialist care not the level on offer from the GP. Have you had wet wraps? They are such a great help for both my children. The dampness cools the skin, keeps the cream on the skin and provides a protective barrier to the skin. Also an antihistamine can help take down the itch and help sleep. Good luck.

Re: Please Help!!

hello, thank you for your reply. Yes i will make an appointment with my doctor to ask to see a skin specialist, i definately think that is what he needs. As he is covered in eczema and he needs something to be done. Usually when i go to the doctor they just say the same old thing, but next time i will demand to see a dermatologist. Thanks again

Re: Please Help!!

Stick to your guns and demand the referal to the dermatologist, our GP kept trying and trying to treat the eczema and would not refer us. It was only after a trip to the out of hours doctor at the hospital in the early hours of the morning that we got a referal. When you tried the wet wraps did you have tubi fast badages that you had to cut to size or the ready made body suits? What steroids are you using and which moisturisers?

Re: Please Help!!

the wet wraps where the cut to size ones yes. It was a nightmare getting them on and then when they where on he screamed trying to pull them off and eventually he did. He doesnt even like gettin dressed :( its always a task! At the moment im using a cream which i found on the internet called PurePotions its quite good but still doesnt stop the itching. Before that i used Oilatum and various others before that, I have tried so many. And iv been using Hydrocortisone steroid cream for his worse areas.Im away at the moment and wont be back home till next monday so i will have to wait till then to see my gp.

Re: Please Help!!

Hi, We have the ready made Comfi fast wet wrap suits which are great, there is no way my 2 year old could get them off and my little boy who is nearly 5 can only just. It certainly sounds like you need that referal. There are many many different steroids which you can try and you need steroids to bring the eczema under control for the moisturiser to be most effective. I worked out after a year of being prescribed bath oils that my son was allergic to them and just putting the moisturiser cream in the water and using it also as soap helped. The bath oils were adding fire all over his body.
