price of suncreams
Hello - not sure this is particularly relevant to the clinic as such as not medical - but why have the prices of suntan lotions become so ridiculously high - or is that my imagination. It didn't seem long ago that spending £8 on a bottle was being extravagant on the top brand suncreams, but now all of them are averaging around £15+. Based on all the facts we read and how much skin cancer and related problems cost the NHS you would have thought the government should be subsidising all recognised and trustworthy brands. Any comments?

Re: price of suncreams
Hi
Just to pass on some useful information which I often do to my patients. There are lots of sun creams available and if you have a sensitive skin it can be a minefield trying to work out which is the best one to use that isn't going to irritate the skin. The larger well known chemists often have a sun care advisor who have samples of sun cream to give away free. By obtaining sample spots you can do your own test patch by applying a small amount of the cream on the inside of your arm (near the wrist). Apply twice daily for a few days and if your going to react to it you will but just on small area instead of the whole of your body. If your absolutely fine with this then you know you can purchase a larger bottle of the sun screen that's going to suit your skin.
This is available within my home town and the chemist has branches throughout the country.
Hope this is helpful
