depression with self harm and primary teaching
Hi
I have a long history of depression and self harm. I have recently come off fluoxetine but am struggling and relapsing. It as a while since coming off meds so it is not because of that but from pressure of uni work. Basically I am applying for teacher training and I know a doctor has to state you are fit to teach. I am thinking of going back on meds but would not want to do so if it will affect my ability to teach. However, i suppose it is better being stable than being depressed, with cuts all over the body and having suicidal thoughts as I am now?

Hi
Yes your quality of life is very important and I would go back to your Gp and discuss how you are feeling. They may recommend going back on the medication for a while and some CBT.This will help.
