changing colour of the palms

Hi i have had contact dermititus on the palm of my hands and lower fingers, it happened out of the blue around july time starting with red itchy spots, since then i've used a cream/anti inflamatory pill prescribed by the doctor, the strange thing is my effected part of the palms & fingers seem to change colour varying from normal to pink to red if outside or in air condition , its left a dry thickened patch on one palm and the other to a lesser extent, my question is how do you know when the dermititus has gone? and will the dry patch go over a period of time?anxiety comes from the unknown, so any help will be appreciated.
