cured after 50 years!

I am 62 year old male. My entire famly has eczema. We all have put cremes and potions on our patches. Few worked at all and those that DID work, worked not well.

I would sit at a desk and reach down scratch myself bloody for all of my working life. We kids had diapers put on our hands so we would not scratch as children. Dating in my 20's and 30's was a ngihtmare. "Why do you have open wounds on your legs?" A woman would ask.

After I got married to a wonderful woman who understood it, she simply lived with it and we found a 50 dollar per tube creme from our dermatologist that "kind of worked".

Then i took matters into my own hands and went on a fullout 50 day internet search.

I landed on milk, eggs, wheat, gluten and citrus. One by one, I cut each of them out of my diet for 2 weeks.

BOOM! Wheat. Gluten. BOOM. no eczema. none. zero. Zilch. no itch. do dry skin. No sores. (and a s sidelight WAY way WAY more energy.

After a year of not using salves, creams or lotions, I visited my Derm about a completely different issue and toldmy DERM the good news and suggested my DERM suggest it to HER client. She became visitlby anry and defensive and said "NO, you have ECZEMA! you do NOT have dermititis herpteformis! (wheat allergy)

If you google it you will see that eczema and dermatitia herptoaformis (wheat allergy) sores are almost indistinguishable with eczema.

8 years into this and zero excema!! I am new to the forum and am sure this has ben discussed before but wanted to share my story

Re: cured after 50 years!

Hi there!

That is great news! You must be so relieved after living with this condition for so long to now be rid of it, and naturally!

It is very unfortunate that doctors have such a limited amount of education in diet and its relation to gut/skin disorders. But that's all it is, they just aren't educated in this field. Having said this, they still feel qualified enough to make the call on it. There is definitely not enough humility from these people.

I have had similar experiences with specialists who flat out just don't believe you. You can walk in one week with horrible eczema, then perfect skin the next and as soon as you tell them it was diet related, you are instantly dismissed from the conversation.

I also find my skin is affected by all the foods you mentioned. Unfortunately I find it hard to completely eliminate them all the time. Though I think my eczema will take a few more years to clear completely anyway as I am going through topical steroid withdrawal. Long process but it is always improving!

Anyway, again a huge well done and good on you for sticking it to the professionals even in light of their ignorance.
