Any advice

Hi all,

I've had eczema on and off for years but I currently have a really bad flare up from the neck downwards, worse than ever before and on pretty much my whole body (before was just backs of knees and arms) with some eczema around the forehead and eyes starting to appear. I work in an office where temps are 25 degrees, humidity sits at 25-30%. At home, temp is 18-19 degrees, humidity 50-60%, going up to 65% at night.

I'm using hydrocortisone twice daily on really bad areas, and showering using Dermol cream prescribed from the doctor, applying twice a day, and I've just started applying Aveeno eczema therapy cream at work at lunchtime. Trying to drink more water now and also now having a Yakult each morning.

I think the humidity could be the real problem. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge in this area? Is it worth getting a humidifier for my desk at work, or a dehumidifier for the bedroom at night? We live in an old Victorian cottage which does not have damp as far as I'm aware, but does get condensation in the winter.

Thanks for any advice.

Hi!

Humidity should be at least 40% I think, can see this article

It may not be humidity though.. could be linked to winter, and some airborne allergen since windows tended to be closed during winter. Maybe do some allergy test to find out more?

Take care!

Hi,
I agree with Marcie, Its problem related to some allergy. You should consult with skin specialist and follow the steps according to his guidelines.
Thanks

Hi, please avoid steroids as much as possible. It is a quick fix that covers the inflammation and hides the root of the problem, creating more health issues for our bodies through the side effects of steroids. Read my children’s eczema story here http://eczemawarriors.com/our-eczema-story
