Covid19

Has anyone here had the covid19 virus and has eczema? I’m worried if I get it it’s going to be severe due to having allergies and eczema so was after some reassurance if possible .

Hey Kristina, :)
There is no evidence to suggest that people with eczema are more likely to develop COVID-19 or to experience a more severe form of the condition if they do develop it. If You have open cracks or splits in your skin, But I think Its no worry to think. because coronavirus seems to be spread through respiratory droplets from the coughs and sneezes of an infected person that land in the mouths, noses, and airways of people nearby, it seems to be unlikely that a damaged skin barrier would increase the risk of developing COVID-19. But You have to be careful. :) :)

Re: Covid19

Hi I understand that. I mean if you contract it, are you more likely to have a severe reaction since people with eczema have a primary immunodeficiency order/over active immune system, does this mean we could have an over active immune response to the virus? I’m susceptible to getting viruses and contracted the Norovirus in December so I’m very scared

Re: Covid19

Found an article on blood borne virus and then a possible route is damaged skin.
https://www.hse.gov.uk/biosafety/blood- ... spread.htm

Covid19 is airborne, so not like hep or hiv.

Regarding over-reactivity, am not sure.. don't think will have studies on this but my daughter had shingles very young, so never know..
