Constant itch
I have had excema all my life. However the last 10 months has been awful. I have been on steroids antibiotics THE LOT! I still have horrible patches which get me down and effect my relationship and my day to day life. I am constantly itchy! The feeling of the itch moves around my body and I don’t know how to stop scratching!! I use creams constantly and try to stay calm and find a mental place to try stop. But the itch is sometimes just too much! I am at a loss of what to do and the doctors don’t always help me! Any tips on how to stop the itch?! It really is effecting my whole life! And I am so sick of people telling me how sick I look due to my poor skin (the fact people say how rubbish I look reallt gets me down and I can’t help my excema I do everything that I’m told to do minus the scratching!) any tips on how to get rid of this constant itchy feeling that takes over my whole body!

Re: Constant itch
I had severe eczema and what I did was have a fan next to me when I was sleeping, developed a sleeping pattern and put steroid creams on at night. I still have it mild and not very visible but slight scarring. I at one point was handcuffing myself at night to not scratch. Clip ur nails until they bleed, moisturise straight after a shower and make sure it’s not too hot. I feel for u really hope it starts to heal and get better. In my prayers
Re: Constant itch
Hi there, you have to take a holistic approach with Eczema. Here's my approach: Flaxseed oil 2 tablespoons a day, Surcare washing powder, cotton organic sheets washed at 60 degrees, 1.5/2.5 tog duvet, Cotton clothes. Get up - cool bath with Emollients, moisturise straight after.
Food: generally no citric acid and reduced dairy intake - but it is very person-specific. Stay cool - exercise is good, but with plenty of water, I do use man-made fabric as it helps with reducing sweat. Shower after to cool and clean off sweat. I can't go swimming due to chlorine or saltwater. I find cycling is the only sport I can do as it is easier to stay cooler. Keep hydrated, avoid perfume, VOC chemicals and animals if affected. Take Antihistamines. I do use steroid creams on back flare-ups. Alcohol isn't great - so moderation - I find more than 2 pints affects my eczema.
hope this helps.
Christopher.

Re: Constant itch
In your case, when the eczema spreads through bacterial infection, it can get itchy as it grows over the body. You may need to either speak to the GP and get antibiotics that are stronger, or you need to see dermatologist about options. I must warn you, dermatologists are not cheap but they will get the job done. You may need to buy some anti-itch cream.
