Emollients and eczema

Hi there

Is it normal for emollients to make eczema redder and more itchy when first using? Do I need to persevere?
Had a shower, eczema patches on arms went paler, patted dry, put on the emollient - instantly redder. Currently im trying DoubleBase Flare Relief, which I've used for a week. Do I just need to persevere?
I've tried so many, but none seem to be tolerated.

Thanks!

Re: Emollients and eczema

Hi Bluebear55, I have this problem with Oilatum, brought off the shelf from boots. I checked the ingredients and noted it had lanolin
and parfum (which after googling I found out to be perfume) both of which should be nowhere near eczema skin. I usually use Dermol
which has none of these ingredients.

Re: Emollients and eczema

Give the emollient 2 months, and speak to the GP about your concerns.
