50 years old suddenly allergic to all face creams

Hi

Lifelong eczema sufferer so I stick to a handful of products I know I can use. Suddenly, however I am allergic to the few moisturisers I have always been okay with. It my face that’s the most problematic. Any words of wisdom?

Re: 50 years old suddenly allergic to all face creams

Hi there! Sorry to hear about this! I can think of it being contact dermatitis, whereby the same products continually used overtime can lead to allergy.. that's why some skin experts recommend switching up products.. http://eczemablues.com/2015/05/science- ... tive-care/

Maybe doing an updated patch test can help? Take care!

Re: 50 years old suddenly allergic to all face creams

Thank you so much! This made for very informative reading.

I found a recommendation somewhere for Balmonds Skin Salvation. I applied it last night after my bath and so far, it seems to be very nourishing, soothing and I’m not reacting to it. The ingredients are all natural. It was developed by a mother in her kitchen to help her daughters eczema.

I’m starting to wonder if I’ve developed an allergy to one of the chemicals used in the production of so many creams. I have ordered the Balmonds moisturiser too so I will report back on both in a few days time. I thought I was allergic to beeswax but it seems not (or not anymore).

Thank you Mei for you help!

Re: 50 years old suddenly allergic to all face creams

You're welcome! And so glad that you found something that works.

For organic products, do take note of the expiration date.
I don't use homemade/organic products as my daughter had reaction after using.

We're not sure why - but since she takes well to pharma products, we always use the global brands' products.

One thing I suspect is potential bacteria growth for some of these homemade/organic cos there's less preservatives. And my daughter's eczema skin is VERY prone to bacteria colonization, so that could be why she doesn't take well to organic/homemade ones.

I've asked the same expert on expiry dates, do check it out http://eczemablues.com/2015/05/science- ... piry-date/

Take care!

Re: 50 years old suddenly allergic to all face creams

I used to use Nivea: and was fine with it for many years. Then I got contact dermatitis and every time I use Nivea my hands feel like they're burning and they go red. This includes other moisturizers. Now the only moisturiser I can use is Zerobase.

It doesn't matter what I use: even E45 has my skin red and burning. I am also allergic to potatoes on my hands. Lemons make my hands sting, too.

It isn't pleasant and I now wear latex gloves in the kitchen.
