Everybody else's Perfume causing my Eczema

Interesting article about perfume. I haven't been able to be in skin contact with perfume for years, I now am discovering I have perfume allergies that set off coughing, headaches and generally feel ill. So not just skin contact now. My skin rashes up now if I hug someone with aftershave or perfume on and I start sneezing and feeling ill after just 5 minutes. I was in a meeting with a woman who wore so much perfume I had to excuse myself from the room. My hand started to tingle in the meeting just after I shook her hand!!!!! I am looking at perfume in washing powders non bio too. oh, and I have now developed skin allergies to plastic bags. 3 times now I have skin welts where I carried my bags - what IS GOING ON WORLD???? :?

Re: Everybody else's Perfume causing my Eczema

I am very excited because I just received my goodies from a natural online store, I can't wait to try out my new eco friendly washing liquid from Alma Win. I found it on an eczema friendly site and because it is natural it may help with my perfume allergy at the moment. I will let you know more when I've done some washing. Feels good to be getting somewhere at last :D

Where did the Daily Mail link disappear to? It was an invaluable article about how perfume could possibly be causing birth defects, cancer and all multitudes of problems. Very odd!! Be aware of the toxic chemicals present in every day items - so called safe items. Look it up yourself as I cannot seem to keep a link on my comments??????

I was recently in West Africa during the wet season. Honestly, I felt like a different person. Living in the 70-90% humidity was pure bliss. No emolients, no steroids, no nothing. And my skin was perfect.

Good to hear of the improved skin :) Will moisturizing lots when back home help? Or preping an emollient bath?
Take care,

Re: Everybody else's Perfume causing my Eczema

Hello, I haven't been here for a while and I just wanted to say, hurah, I have been Eczema clear for a month now. I left my job, got a new one and have been using natural and organic household and beauty products. I have been take Omega Oils, a really good supplement for sensitive skins. I have also been using Solgar hair skin nails supplements.

Yes, being in warmer climates has always helped my skin condition but when I came home I'd come back to the skin complaint too.

Not any more, I can be at home, and have happy healthy skin. :D

Artificial fragrances is a big eczema and headache trigger for me. I suspect it may also be a cause for hayfever too, but I will see this April.

Re: Everybody else's Perfume causing my Eczema

Hi everyone.
I would just like to share with you something that you could find very helpful for eczema.
Let me tell you a story:
My cousin has been suffering from eczema since he was a kid. His parents are not well-off so he wasn't taken to a specialist instead his parents use aloe vera to make the itching go away. It went okay until he was already in College just last year. Because his parents can't find any aloe vera anymore and that he lives far away from home, he became worried that this would just make him absent more from school. According to him, there were times that he won't really be able to sleep due to itchiness.
Just this January, he was able to talk to someone who has the same problem as his and thus introduced to him the 2 minute miracle gel. He was hesitant at first but upon finding out that it is aloe vera gel based, he gave it a try. As he said, he's been trying almost all products, but to no avail, so trying another one won't hurt.
Up until now, he is using it and never does he leave the house without applying it. So far, according to him, it has been very helpful and even have some parts affected, totally gone.

Re: Everybody else's Perfume causing my Eczema

I have heard about the many health benefits of aloe vera. I have aloe vera plant in our yard and freshly from the pot I cut a leaf of aloe vera and get the gel from it and apply it to my skin and leave for 15 minutes. I also apply it on my scalp. Aloe vera is good moisturizer.
