Re: 14 year old girl sufferer

There is a research project running out of Nottingham Queens Medical Centre I think based on treating the baby from birth with Emolients to stop the onset. I was advised to take probiotics whist pregnant to reduce the chance of my second child getting it. It did not work but she does not get it as bad. May have helped who knows.

hi , i have been reading your post and really feel for you. i would reccomend you try something called renew. i work with a company called melaleuca and its shown fantastic results . just search melaleuca on this site and other people are getting fantastic results. they do a huge house hold range as well which use the melaleuca oil as the base product, if you want me to send you a catologue to have a look then please let me know. i think that you would benefit from it not just with your skin but also the diet side. they also have a 60 day money back guaranatee so if you do not get the results you thought then you will get your money back no questions asked. regards shaun

15 year old girl with eczema

I've had eczema as long as i can remember. My skin's only been totally clear once in my life when i was 11 i think for one summer after i had a severe breakout. Unfortunately it came back again a few months later and I've had it again ever since everywhere on my body. It just doesn't go away ever. I occasionally get severe breakouts because of dust mites most likely. But never as bad as the one in 2008. I feel so embarrassed every time i go out, especially now because it's the summer again. And I get these sort of.. hot flashes where parts of my body get extremely itchy for a few seconds. Does anyone have any advice that could help with that and also advice for itchiness in general.

Re: 15 year old girl with eczema

hi there hun,
I am 19 years old, and have been dealing with many of the same problems that you have.
I have it severely from head to toe, it oozes, seeps, bleeds and itches insanely bad. So please don't feel you are going through this alone!
I have found that taking hydroxyine, sorry if that is spelled wrong, helps with the itching. But sometimes it conflicts with other medications you may be taking.
the best medication that clears up my skin is a steroid called Prednisone. It's like a life saver, but it can wear your skin out, thin it and can cause liver damage if taken too much. but I personally am willing to take that chance.
I deal with this everyday, and the outbreaks are terrible, the physical pain hurts almost as much as the mental pain. I understand you want to hide because sometimes people look at you as a possible meth addict or even a burned victim, at least in my cases i have been called both sometimes. and of course i am neither! but i have found that taking luke warm showers, as much as hot showers feel so good to the skin, are the best for you.
Also try to get to a specialist in dermatology, and get on the ointment or cream called Triamcinolone. it's a steroid, but it really does help! (at least for myself)
Eczema varies from person to person, but i hope my advice helps you out.

Hi
I'm 19 and know exactly how you feel.
At night I wear cotton gloves to stop me itching because i found long pjs just got me hot making me scratch more so it might be worth a go...?
I also take stress tablets you can get from health food shops because I find my eczema gets worse when I have exams and am upset about my skin.

When my skins bad I use the elcon steroid cream which I really like and then when it's good I tend to use the aveeno body cream with oats in, I really find that helps.
In terms of my face I swear by tacrolimus oitment, it is honestly a miracle cream and not even a steroid, ask your docs about it :)

I hope this helps, if you have any other querys message me as I have been through it and know exactly how you feel when you see your friends with perfect skin

Have any of you tried Dermacura Intensive Spray? Its a steroid free skin spray, it helps relieve the itching and has worked wonders on my sensitive skin.

Re: 15 year old girl with eczema

So glad I found this, because I'm fifteen now and really struggling. Its started spreading from just my elbows neck and face to also covering my torso, entire arms, back and thighs. This plus GCSEs is a bloody nightmare! I know what you mean about being depressed about everyone elses perfect skin, although you wrote this a long time ago its lovely to hear!
I find thick emollients like Epaderm and Oilatum bath additives really help me keep on top of it, though its still embarrassing creaming up during lessons, and skipping Games outside because it will cause a flare up!

Lots of sympathy,

Sarah
