Re: ? Food intolerance

Hello Jill,

Thank you very much for your post and I am sorry to hear about how you are feeling.

Allergy UK defines food intolerance as: "Food intolerance is much more common than food allergy. The onset of symptoms is usually slower and may be delayed by many hours after eating the offending food. The symptoms may also last for several hours, even into the next day and sometimes longer. Intolerance to several foods or a group of foods is not uncommon, and it can be much more difficult to decide whether food intolerance is the cause of chronic illness, and which foods or substances may be responsible."

What type of testing did you have? The usual way to find true causative substances is to eliminate a food group from the diet and see if symptoms improve. The food would then be reintroduced to see if symptoms return and ensure a clear diagnosis. The exclusion takes place over 2 to 6 weeks. Perhaps this is something you could try especially with the list of foods you have established?

For more information and advice, please refer to Allergy UK https://www.allergyuk.org/food-intolera ... ntolerance

Let me know if you have tried this before and what your outcome was; or alternatively if you think this is worth a try.

Best wishes,

Justine
