Mirena Coil

I had a mirena coil fitted 16 months ago and have had no problems at all with it. Periods stopped after about 3 months BUT about 2 weeks ago I started to have spotting and this has continued every day since. I had my coil check in December and all was OK. Should I be worried or this normal?

For info I'm 46 nearly 47, had 1 child 18 years ago and used the coil due to very heavy periods. On insertion of the coil was found to have fibroids.

With thank

Re: Mirena Coil

I am sure there is nothing to worry about - this can happen though normally when its first inserted.
As you are over 45 years - it would be recommended that you see your Doctor as he/she may well want to refer you to have a scan/or the lining of the womb checked
