Change of smell

I've noticed a strangely metallic smell recently when I remove my underwear, bordering on unpleasant. I also seem to get very mild pain infrequently in my vagina. My periods have been normal but I have been getting slightly thicker, whiter discharge (though very little) for about a month. I've not got any itching though I do keep getting a strange sensation of being 'cold' down there-like the feeling of putting Vicks vaporub on your skin (I haven't been doing this, obviously...)! The smell is what bothers me the most.

I would recommend a clinical examination, vaginal swabs and a sexual health screen.
These symptoms may be secondary to an infection (discharge and pain).
