Re: HIV
It's very rare for HIV to be passed on in this way. Although it is rare, however, it is possible: if one of the women is HIV positive, and the couple share sex toys which are covered in vaginal, rectal fluids or menstrual blood. You can avoid this by using condoms on sex toys before using them on each other.
Of course, women who sleep with women could also catch HIV by using infected needles or having sex with an HIV-positive man.
It's really important to take precautions whatever you're up to - and to get tested if you've engaged in any risky behaviour. There's no reason not to. That's why Saving Lives promotes a positive image of HIV testing via our Saving Lives ambassadors, such as London 2012 bronze medallist Sally Walton: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7bE8kIfRGNI
