Frequent Bowel

For about a year now I have had frequent bowels (back end), mostly in the morning, probably requiring 2-3 visits to the toilet before I leave the house! But this has become routine and almost normal to me now.

After blood tests for Coeliacs, Crohns, CRP, full blood count etc and some stomach/bowel prodding my GP says I have simply a frequent bowel

I dont really have much cramping or bloating and my diet is balanced and healthy. I exercise frequently. I have NO weight loss, although weight gain is impossible! I am in my mid 20s. No bleeding or family history of anything concerning.

Is a 'frequent bowel' an actual diagnosis or just to put my mind at rest. My GP suggests I do not have IBS as I have no cramping/bloating relieved by going to the toilet.

Any help would be appreciated!

Re: Frequent Bowel

Bowel activity can alter as a response to anxiety and or stimulants - if the change in bowel habit coincided with increased stress in your life (work, social, family) then that would explain the change. Ironically when we experience additional stress we also increase our caffeine consumption and caffeine can stimulate bowel activity. Reducing the amount of caffeine you consume can reduce bowel activity.

You don't say whether you have been referred to a Consultant Colorectal specialist or Gastroenterologsit for further tests - it may be worth discussing this with your GP.
