inguinal hernia

I have bi-lateral Hernia (I believe Inguinal).
G.P says nothing can be done until it becomes strangulated. I am concerned, as they Pop-Out 15 plus times a day at any small effort. Though I can push them back in.
Is this really the latest N.H.S Policy as I am now very limited to what I can do, have been advised to exercise because of Arthritic hips and high blood pressure but this latest Hernia situation does not help.
Please do not suggest Private treatment as this is way beyond my means.
Best regards

Re: inguinal hernia

I am a physician not a surgeon but this is news to me. The hernia may just be uncomfortable and not very pleasant and this would be enough of a reason to have surgery. I would never say to a patient wait until there is a problem like strangulation. You dont HAVE to have hernia surgery but if they are bothering you your GP should refer you up to the local hospital surgeons clinic- ask them to do that
